In Icthlarin's Little Helper, when I try to pick up the bug-shaped canopic jar, and then defeat Scabaras, then try again to pick it up, Scabaras returns and attacks, and I don't get the jar. I'm sure that this was the canopic jar I had after being mesmerized by the Wanderer. Am I doing something wrong?

My best guess is that you mis-remembered which jar it was. Does your Quest Journal give you any clues as to which one you need?
