I keep getting this dumb alert

It says "You cannot use this ability, as you have at least as much adrenaline as your target"
no matter what weapon I use or what I am fighting or how much adrenaline I have. I have no idea where it is coming from, or how to make it stop! It is driving me insane!

What am I doing wrong? I don't want to use any abilities. I am just getting back into the game after a 6 year hiatus and it is making it feel way too complicated. I can't even locate an interface where I could maybe find a solution.

Ahh; that does sound rather aggravating. Hopefully somebody here with a little more combat expertise can enlighten you on the message that you're getting regarding adrenaline!

However what I can help you with is your interface/combat style settings. If you want to use the old legacy style combat (and layout if you so choose!), what you can do is press open the menu by pressing [esc] on the keyboard. From there, go into settings, and then within the "Gameplay" tab, go down to where it says "Additional Options", and under "Legacy Modes", you will see a bunch of different options! For your combat, you can click on "Legacy Combat Mode" - if you want your layout to look more old-school too, you can click on "Legacy Interface Mode".

This should solve the issue of things being complicated & bring it back to a place of familiarity I do hope that somebody can enlighten you on that adrenaline issue though! I'm curious now too
