Please help! I'm trying to complete Recipe for Disaster: Freeing Evil Dave but I don't have a cat! I've already completed Gertrude's Cat many months ago before I took a break from playing rs3. now that I'm back playing and questing I have lost my cat??? How am I supposed to continue questing if I can't complete this quest along with other quests requiring a cat/kitten!

you get another kitten from Gertrude (W of Varrock) for 100 gold coins; if you happen to own that "ring of Charos" which hypnotizes people into doing what you want, you should wear that and select a kitten colour, there's an achievement for that. When you have a kitten, drop it on the floor and it will follow you around; occasionally, you have to feed it (raw fish of any type works) and play with it, for a total of ~2 hours, then it's grown and will not run away from you if you don't feed it.
