The pet can be obtained by training Prayer, so I would assume you are able to obtain it while doing ectofuntus. They do not seem to mention it anywhere so do not quote me on that one just yet. Ooh, shiny things!

Not sure about prayer urn's giving pet or not.

I got my pet training at ecto using ashes, doubt it makes a difference as to ashes or bones
