I died with an unchecked Brutish Dino egg in my inventory, when I paid for my things back from death it was gone. Is this the way its designed?

Secondly, I am at 2175 dino kills and still haven't received a dino tooth drop. I am hopeful that my RNG is just blah and at 3x I will get it. but is this normal for alot of you?
