Is it always this slow? On average it takes me about 2 minutes to smith a platebody. At this rate I won't live to see lvl 99. I'm doing something wrong, right?

Hi Zodyar!

Mining and smithing have been fully reworked in RuneScape 3, with heat bars above the player when smithing.

The heat bar, and keeping this bar hot, is what allows you to smith faster. You should see a mini furnace labeled a “forge” near all anvils to do this.

Once your bar is at max heat it’s time to start making that platebody!
Just remember when the heat drops, you must return to the forge to bring this back up to the right temperature

Heat at maximum, represented by the orange bar:

Returning to the forge to heat the bar once again:

Once all this is done, you will have your fancy platebody ready to show off!
Or in my case, hatchet

See more about this amazing mining/smithing rework here

Hope that helps!
Some say the glass is half full, I say the water is level 92
