who else thinks we need a truck load of updates to clans?!!?! we need this more than afking updates, but first and foremost need to adapt the automatic privileges admin + ranks get. remove the ability to kick people or at least make it a setting and make avatar warden a automatic one!

A lot of us believe the same things - we've had many discussions of various changes we feel could be a nice QoL thing for clans. Unfortunately, we've been told that unless there's a clear player want for these updates, they're unlikely to happen.

We've had a few small projects done through some JMod's TAPP time, and we have the Avatar Rework coming up - but a lot does need to be done, but is unlikely to be.

We've consistently been told that Citadels can't/won't be reworked, plots added and so on because "it's spaghetti code". As for other things, there's a lot of stuff we want and it would take huge amounts of resources for Jagex to do it, so it's unlikely to happen. MrBrokenBow - Former Leader and Founder of

I think for clan permissions to be reworked it would basically require a very large portion of the clan coding to be completely rewritten. Same for citadel.

Right now Jagex is focusing on smaller, Ninja-sized projects for clans possibly later this year.

Avatar rework is currently a fairly large project being developed Clan Avatar Rework but I'm not sure what else is in the works after that.

Lower ranks able to use avatar is totally redundant with the avatar rework coming up. Avatars are going to be personal pets for all clan members and bonus xp for all if the pay a citadel visit, eg there will be no more avatar wardens


As for the excuse of spaghetti code for everything we ask for - the translation for that is someone did a terrible job coding Citadels / Clans (hope they didn't get a bonus that year) and without throwing the whole lot out and starting again we , Clans, will never get any substantial requests granted .

These changes would require the Permission Rework to be developed, which is an extensive change to the way that the administration of Clans work on both the player and the server side. For this project to be released it would need substantial resource development and testing wise, as well as some serious design work underpinning it. Clan updates were included in last year's player survey, which is guiding our current development planning, but did not do well against other pieces of content - some of which were very quality of life or rework focused, rather than just High Gloss items. As such it is unlikely such changes will feature this year, other than smaller changes by individual developers. Mod MattHe | Former Community Manager, now in Events & occasional Lore Monkey
