An odd thing happened on clan chat page. I'd like to know how it happened & how to report it. Last night a player named unspoken pie joined our cc as a guest & clan chat page indicated he was a guest. I sent some pm's & nobody had seen him before. He did not reply to any of our queries in cc. I added to fl to see if this was a new name. It showed him as offline. When I went back to clan chat page there was an icon next to his name. The icon indicated he was a clan member with admin rank. I double-checked clan settings & his name wasn't listed. I asked in cc for him to explain or I would ban from cc & he could pm me. No response so I banned from cc.
I don't like that all of a sudden someone appears to have admin. clan rank who isn't in our clan & is guesting. How did this happen & how can it be prevented & where should I report it?

My clan is experiencing the same thing. Non-member friends of our clan are logging in and showing a general or admin rank in clan chat. The symbol changes without them logging out. A guest rank just changed from general to owner as I was typing this message lol. The guest doesn't see the rank themselves.

It should be said that the player is completely innocent in this instance. Clan interfaces appear to be suffering from a small bug, which appears to show guests as any rank. It can shift through 'ranks' as long as the person guests )and it appears that they take the rank of the person next to them in the clan list), but the bug might only be visible to you. Most of my clannies have reported that they can't see it, but I can.

The good news is that no matter what rank shown, they'll have no powers in your clan, as they're just a guest. Banning them is a little harsh, but I understand the sentiment if you were unaware of it. If you experience it again, just head to the lobby and enter the game again. It will clear the false rank and show them as a guest again.

In terms of letting Jagex know, as with any bug, report it through the in-game bug report feature, giving as much information as you can.

I might have banned him anyway for other reasons & knew I could remove the ban if it had been too hasty. I did ask him to pm me so we could discuss it further before I applied the ban, but there was no response.

However, I'm not sure if the ban button is working properly either. A clan member messaged me that the player was guesting in clan chat a few hrs. ago--long after I had banned him.

Did you use the button in the clan chat itself? As in, by right-clicking their name or the little arrow next to it?

If so, that's only a temporary ban, used as a quick moderation tool to remove unruly guests. You'll need to manually add the person to your clan's ban list if you want the ban to stick.

From my perspective, clan bans are working as intended.
