I think it's time to put our counting thread series to a rest. It was fun while it lasted, for those who enjoyed it, but I don't think it was active enough recently to warrant another version of the thread to be created.

I've been participating in the counting thread since I got CLF access back in 2014, and it was a great ice breaker for newcomers to the forum. That's where I made my first post in the CLF, and I had always enjoyed it just because it was such a simple game.

However, I think it's outlived its purpose now, especially considering Mod Shauny is the only JMod who's regularly visiting the CLF, and he has more important things to use his time for. Since July, Shauny has only made 4 posts on the counting thread, so it only makes sense to let V29 be the last one if JMods aren't going to be regular participants.

Instead, we can use the Leader Lounge thread for fun chat rather than just counting numbers, and visiting JMods can post there as well. ~ Sicariu

I was going to make the announcement on the 2000th post, but then it got ninja'd, and then I got busy with school.
And then I was going to make a thread to make the announcement this afternoon, and then I got busy with school. :P

It's original purpose years ago was to draw Jmods into using the forums as they check before the count got to 50, then hopes they may also stay to read ideas and input in other threads.
If Jmods aren't participating in the count, it means it neither serves it's purpose nor is it a fun game since winning is too easy, so it might be time to let it rest in the history of CLF.


It's sad in a way because it also was an ice breaker to new joiners into CLF to not be intimidated by the passionate conversations held in many of the other threads. Yet also is considered an eye sore by many since it increases forum post count without any real contribution.

Basically.....I've come to realize the Count to 50 threads aren't doing what they're meant to do. The first one was created eons ago in the "dark ages" of CLF when there was no Jmod looking after this place. The thread series, arguably, created the interaction we got with Mod MattHe and Maz.

That time has kinda come and gone though. Count to 50 hasn't been building any interactions, and it's just been mindless postcount boosting. Even the forum itself has been postcount boosted - almost 25% of all posts in this forum have been on a Count to 50 thread.

So....on that note, I do not have any intention of making a new version. Naturally, if someone else wants to carry the torch, I'm not going to be against it or anything like that, but I am not interested in running that show anymore. @Lisaa_RS - Followed by @Runescape

I did like the topic but it is not really needed. However sometimes in the past, I did read topics on CLF and did not feel I could bring in something axtra in discussions so I only posted then on that topic. Ceecs - leader of Ceecs Clan
