Hey all,

The BGH Clan Cup finished and I'm so pleased with how it went, aside from the one oversight which I think/hope I cleared up.

Now I want to focus on doing a PvM and Skilling Cup and hopefully pitch it, but I need your help to make me think these are good ideas

---

PvM Cup: General Graardor

- Force a preset gear on participants to try and keep it as fair as possible
- Most kills in the hour wins

---

Skilling Cup: Anachronia Agility Course

This is a new piece of content that is very fun to take part in! Additionally I'm proposing to allow all levels to take part on the course (however if they don't have the level for certain obstacles they won't get the XP for it, allowing everyone to take part should do lovely for this!)

---

If you have any ideas/suggestions yourselves pop 'em in here!

In the past Clan Cups were massive and exciting and getting to the finals required skills far beyond just being good at the game. Communication, coordination, clan spirit and lots of practicing and polishing teamwork. Here's the 2011 JCup final;
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q9m_QYKDVzQ

The Cups you're suggesting just can't compare. As Jagex seems to want to transition to esports, Clan Cups would be great for that. However, going back to the drawing board would be required. From what I can see you're picking content and then trying to build a competition around it, while the content itself isn't really all that suitable for a Clan Cup. I think you'd have to approach it the other way around. Find out what's required for a succesful clan cup and then finding content that matches those requirements. Personally I'd think these are the main requirements;
- Head-to-head competition between clans (creates excitement and stream-worthy content like an actual final and publicity)
- Requires teamwork in larger groups (as that's the real strength of clans and makes RS and clans stand out)

For PvP we already have that (or I should say had, as most PvP clans migrated to OSRS). The content is still there though (Clan Wars, Wilderness), just a combat system suitable for wars isn't. For skilling there are only a handful of minigames, but those have been mostly neglected and would need reworks. Regular skilling is generally not that engaging, is solo-focussed and therefore wouldn't really be interesting for a Clan Cup. For PvM I'd lean towards the Kalphite King, as it would be doable with preset gear, isn't too difficult to learn, but does benefit a lot from teamwork. However, it also has major downsides (doesn't require an actual large team, has random mechanics which don't allow for head-to-head competition unless special Clan Cup instances are created).

I'm not against your suggestions though, and I'm glad you're putting in so much effort. There's just much more potential.

Would agility be the fastest course completion? I would love to see more aspects of the clan cup, this one was fun and definitely had an impact on the clan community. Having events like these would definitely be something we could support!

Anachronia agility course would effectively eliminate players with lower agility levels. In the past most of our clannies participated in clan skill cup comp even though they knew they would not be in the top 10 of our clan. They just wanted to be a part of it & give it their best effort.

Allowing all levels to compete in this special comp wouldn't change the fact that they couldn't do some obstacles so no xp gain.

My clan didn't compete in BGH partly because of the higher slay & hunt levels that are required. They prefer a comp in which all our members can participate.

I know you are trying to keep the effort required down but the PVM cups of the past worked well when there wasn't so many restrictions. There were a range of different bosses and no hour sessions, just most clan kills on those particular bosses in a week. Every clan will prefer a different boss so by having more bosses on the menu more clans will take part. Also, not having the complex hour session thing and instead auto counting every clans kills for that week you can't go wrong - You've done it before so why can't you do it again?

Same could apply to the agility comp, rather than picking a particular agility course have multiple courses in the competion with a different cup for each course, that way more clans will be able to take part. You could keep the hour sessions for this one as that should work but then again auto counting for a week and making it easy would make it even better in my opinion.

Even allowing all levels to complete the agility course, those who already have access are going to be far more familiar with the course to make it a level playing field.
