not gaining runespan points

I've been in the Runespan syphoning for about 30 minutes or so and have not gained a single Runespan point toward my Heropass. What am I missing?

So I left and came back and as soon as I left it told me I had 700+ runespan points toward my Heropass. Now it's back to not telling me when I gain them again. What's the story?
