On Monday, September 14, the weekly system update included a Penguin Hide 'n Seek update.

In addition to being a graphical update:

1. A penguin spy device replaces the spy notebook for tracking and allows you to read a hint, scan, or zap a penguin spy. Enjoy configuring your scanning preference.

2. Secret agent spies were added. Please see post 3 for details.

3. The 50 points point cap has been removed.

4. A rewards shop has been added, with increased gp and xp gains.

5. Other rewards are a pet, titles, and a briefcase.

Back to our regular programming:

Our trade mark is that we hunt on the basis of threads only. We believe strongly in this concept a conscious choice.

We continue to be grateful for the overwhelming support we receive from our community of hunters. It is our ever-expanding and always flourishing community that has made hunting penguins using only a forums thread so successful.


The forums will always be our communication channel for penguin locations.
Almost twelve years of successfully reporting penguin locations by thread only has proven to many that no clan chat is needed for finding, herding and trapping penguins, and you can get your penguins in a record time just by using a thread.

Whispering Rules


(1) Please wave to a Whisperer if you see one bonding with a penguin.

(2) Please keep within the spirit of the game and refrain from disrupting the herding and trapping activities. This also includes posts on the thread that are inappropriate, confusing, and/or disruptive to maintaining accurate communication.

(3) The Penguin Whisperers operate on world 71. Please do not report locations from other organised penguin hunting world threads, as these worlds already have their own threads.

(4) Respect our open and friendly community atmosphere. If someone is irritating you or provoking you in game while spying penguins, the best solution is to place them on ignore.

(5) If you want to learn more about hunting, herding and trapping, ask advice from those who are with you. Perhaps you can teach each other some new tricks of the trade.

(6) We really welcome people posting updates as they spy, even if it is simply to confirm that the locations are correct.

(7) We kindly ask you to keep in-game issues in-game.

(8) Above all: Sit back, relax and have fun!


Please note:
We wish to minimize the posting of off-world locations on our threads, unless in exceptional circumstances (like Nardah herbalist shop). Please do not advertise other organized penguin worlds/threads locations, as world 71 is not advertised on theirs,

So, when you encounter a random penguin we encourage you to report the penguin's location on our thread,

Secret Agents Fun Facts

They cannot be found with the new spying device. Also, like regular penguin spies, they cannot be seen as dots on the mini-map.

Spawn:
randomly, but new spots. Currently known spawns include
1. Ranch Out Of Time near southern large pen
2. north of Jatizso
3. southeast corner near rope spawn of Living Rock Caverns
4. Tuai Leit near bank in the Arc
5. west at The Lost Grove
6. south west of Warforge digsite
7. Haunted Woods

You might know that we're fans of world hopping. Let us know how it works for these.

Appearance

Penguin (larger) with suitcase, whom everyone can see. However, it despawns after the first person spies it or 1 minute.

Benefits

2 points and a casket; maximum of 10x a week

Spawn:

Possible each time you spy a regular penguin spy, where he is within viewing range.
Pop-up screen notification of spawn

Appearance

Penguin (smaller) with a scarf, whom only you can see. It despawns after you spy it or 1 minute. Currently noted as random and possibility of none occurring per spying all regular penguins.

Benefits

2 points and a casket; maximum has not been established.

Spawns north of Grimgnash on the east side of White Wolf Mountain
Spawn area hint: “... near a mountain of wolves”

2. Mudskipper

Spawns NW of the A I Q fairy ring, through line of palm tree
Spawn area hint: “... near Port Sarim”

3. Barbarian Outpost



4. Lighthouse

Spawns SE of the Lighthouse, by the bridge and round pool
Spawn area hint: “... between Fremennik and barbarians”

5. Mage Training Arena

Spawns just west of the Mage Training Arena garden
Spawn area hint: “... in the northern desert”

Spawns near the town’s west entrance, west of the southern-most market stall
Spawn area hint: “... where bloodsuckers rule”

7. Southern Desert Sophanem

spawns in the south near the divination spot

Quest requirement: Start Icthlarin's Little Helper (or use either a Pharaoh's sceptre (“Jalsavrah”) teleport (level 21 thieving required) or, with help, he can be spied from outside Menaphos)

8. Wilderness clue

Spawn area hint: “... in the Wilderness”

9. Mos Le'Harmless

Spawns outside town, straight east from east town wall, near the decorative plant
Spawn area hint: “... where pirates feel mostly harmless”
Quest requirement: Complete Cabin Fever

10. Piscatoris

Spawns just south of Piscatoris, amongst the dead trees
Spawn area hint: “... where fishers colonise”

11. Ghost penguin ( 3 points; location changes frequently)

- You can use the 'hint' & 'scan' on the penguin spy device to help find the penguin.
Quest Requirement: Complete Some Like It Cold and Obtain a Ring of Visibility or Sliske's gift.

12. Neitiznot

Spawns on the green island, north of Neitiznot town island
Spawn area hint: “... on islands where brothers quarrel”
Quest requirement: Complete Back to the Freezer & Start Fremennik Isles

Additional spy after completing Hunt for Red Raktuber :

2. Mudskipper was headed north in Port Sarim.

Eagles Peak was just spotted in the Hall of Memories, but he kept toward the door and back so I don't know how much longer he will stay.

Looking for Wildy peng. Got PKed on the far east side. They probably got their kill and hopped worlds, but just in case - be wary. Of course, they walked away with nothing from me other than a little Xp.
