If selling the game to noobs is the problem, I would definitely caution that TH might be quite tame compared to what comes in the future.

There is so much time required to advance in this game that XP becomes just a tiny part of the equation.

So small that I could imagine lvl 80 starter kits that drop you right into the action, and allows for even skipping quests.

It's something to consider because it is inevitable. At some point they must allow for people to buy their way in.
