personal opinion, I believe the color design pairs well with the new 120 necromancy cape.
Where does it come from? Only available from the Shadow Reef Lucky Charm (2/100,000 chance of dropping when lucky charm is consumed in the dungeon)
At the height of Elite Dungeons 3 (2019), it was the newest bossing content in the game. Crossbow pieces could fetch over a billion coins.
Past 30 days there has been 0 Shadowy Eggs sold on the Grand Exchange likewise in the past 6 months only 3 times has it being sold on the GE.
in 2019 Shadowy egg could be purchased for 450m-600m over the course of a few weeks. I personally bought 3 Shadowy eggs, one to consume and two to give as gifts to friends who taught me ED3.
In 2023 the dungeon is still exceptionally fun and timeless. However, with newer and tougher bosses, there are other bossing encounters to farm and progress in. I think the Shadowy egg pet token should be moderately accessible for players who want to unlock it through the Grand Exchange. instead of a relic of the past, when the token was coming into the game more frequently due to the higher volume of Shadow Reef runs.
As it's been my primary pet override to use, the floating squid is always a fun reminder of the dungeon and the miniboss encounters of the Shadow Reef. That being said, if not a buffed drop rate to the ED3 Lucky Charm, the Shadowy egg could be added to another monster's drop table (although, due to rarity, wouldn't be added as a slayer log collection item) or could be added to the the Motherlode MAW.
