The Ports Table is useless

We have a Ports Table in our fort where we can manage our ships, but we can't claim rewards after a voyage and we can't send out new ships. It says that I must visit the actual port in order to do that, so why is the table there in the first place? It is useless when I have to go to the port anyway.

A few special voyages with cutscenes have to start and have their rewards claimed in POP. It is like the Captain Log.
