Minigames.
I personally remember my youth spent pushing people in the castle wars mines with my dragon halbeard just to detonate the ceiling on them, defeating opponents easily 50+ levels ahead of me.
Part of me wishes I could return to it. I really miss the glory days but of course
the number of players these days is troublesome.
It is
my personal opinion
and not a criticism of Jagex, that a game is not the best it can be if it doesn't have a way of accounting for lowering player base. We've all likely felt it in finding clans, buying items on the G.E. (low volume),
but something that is in my opinion more easily fixable, is minigames
dying out.
I recently attempted the Hard Ardougne achievements and was saddened by Castle Wars and
the sad truth was that you have to wait until minigames are spotlighted to have players to play them.
I think this is a real shame,
each minigame has unique points systems and therefore could be automated
. I understand NPCs that play games like this are probably server-intensive, but to revive every minigame because you have bots to play with would be incredible to me and maybe to many players.
Though I appreciate the potentially huge developer time this would take.
Overall, I think it would be great to have NPCs/Bots that can
at least
perform the mandatory minimal duties of the game (in castle wars this could be 20 to a side, 5 go for flag, 5 play defense and 10 go for combat).
I think balancing is the main issue,
because obviously if there's 1 player and 19 bots, the player has the edge.
But it's for sure better than not having any minigames playable outside of the spotlight.
Again, I'd expect this is doable because NPCs can already fight each other, there's already a minigame point system for them to know what needs doing, and it shows confidence in runescapes future, that they're able to play on regardless of timezones or short monthly events.
