What do we do with special teak logs now (the striped ones)? I can't seem to use them for anything. It says in the news that we can make them directly into refined planks or x number of teak planks, but I can't see how to do that.

The ability to convert special logs into refined planks of the same type, or into base teak and mahogany planks was mentioned in a Feb 8 future updates post about Fort Forinthry.

It seems that these uses for special logs were not added to Fort Forinthry. You could submit a bug report about this.

If you have completed Plague's End, you can take noted special logs to the Prifdinas sawmill operator for a free conversion of 27 planks.

If you do not have access to Prifdinas, I would hang on to your special logs until you can use them at Fort Forinthry.

Talk to the plank maker in Rimmington or the sawmill operator in Prifddinas to either:

Sell them for 1,300 coins each
Exchange two of them (can be noted) for a completely free conversion of all teak logs in your inventory into teak planks

Have you tried? It worked for me before, and I just tried it again seconds ago with the Rimmington Plank Maker, it still works the same for me.

That has nothing to do with converting into refined planks, couldn't care less about selling or using for converting inventory. That's been around forever. What I want to know is are they ever going to do what they said in Fort post?

I can confirm I was able to use two special teak logs to convert an inventory of regular teak logs by talking to Bill. I have amended the Wiki pages, as their information was false.

However, Conan's point is specifically about converting special logs into refined planks. Indeed, a previous news post states: "For 'special log types', these previously allowed the player to convert an entire inventory of logs into planks at the cost of two special logs. Now, they're able to just be processed straight into a Refined Plank of wood type, or processed into x number of base planks".

Bad grammar aside, this does suggest that there was an intention to introduce a new level of functionality to special logs. There's currently no way to convert special logs into refined planks, Conan, and I would recommend submitting a bug report. It is worth noting that they might have changed their minds since then, meaning that everything is working as intended right now.
