I'm speaking from my own experience. There may be other reasons to support this.
With gathering outfits, you have a chance to gain an additional item. This happens when mining and fishing. If you happen to get an additional item on the last spot in your inventory, it drops to the floor.
For example, when doing daily mining of crystal-flecked sandstone or red sandstone. You have to either bank and return to pick it up, or leave it. Active fishing isn't as bad, but it would benefit from this suggestion.
My suggestion is to add a +1 to the 28 inventory slots to accommodate these occurrences. The 29th inventory spot would only come into play when this issue happens.
Porters are not the solution. In the case of mining, many players will use the glass machine to convert the sandstone. Having them go to your bank is not practical.
Bite me.

Or, have #29 go to your bank rather than onto the ground. When you make extra items on portable skilling stations, they go to your bank.
I'd support this. This does happen sometimes after I mine a full inventory of sandstone
So Draco, do you find it tiresome to porter your sandstone to the bank then have to go to the bank to get it and head back to the glass making machine which is near where you mined? Or do you just enjoy the extra walk and feel that you're getting your daily steps in?

This is the best solution in my mind.
Things may be looking down now, but I see a light at the end of the tunnel;
Do you think I should get off the tracks?
