Wilderness Events need a massive re-balance on them. There are so many ways for players to get screwed out of their rewards. Considering like...how much Jagex has bent over backwards regarding the Hero Pass, it makes me wonder why Wilderness Events are left in such a crap-status.
1. Player's don't get rewards if they dc during.
Jagex has seemingly done nothing to resolve the AMD issues with RS. For those that don't have AMD devices, the game just randomly locks up and crashes. No rhyme or reason to it. Yes, there are small things Jagex suggests to help with the issues, but they aren't a 100% fix.
So if you dc during a Wilderness Event, you lose your progress.
Think about that. You just completed all 3 rounds of Bloodwood and are waiting for the "Turn in" period to expire, when you dc. You've now lost your progress and the reward with it.
Solution: If you reach the "Turn in" phase and qualified for the rewards, make sure the players get their damn rewards!!
2. A poorly timed login can screw over someone else.
A lot of people go to busier Worlds to do events like Bloodwood so that they don't have to do all the work themselves. For those that have never solo'd Bloodwood, you are lucky to finish it in time.
So say that you changed from a low population World, completed it with a higher population World, and then returned home. When you arrive, there is someone who was working on it all alone and is on the third phase with less than a minute to go.
That person now has to do double the work to complete the phase, but that isn't humanly possible with a minute left to go.
Solution for Events w/Phases: If someone doesn't complete 50% of Phase 1/2, they cannot partake in Phase 2/3.
Other Events: Cannot start an event if 50% of time has passed.
3. People tend to not want to pull their own weight when mixed into larger population Worlds.
Solution: You must have completed 50% of Phase 1 to move into Phase 2, and from Phase 2 to partake in Phase 3.
