Loot beam inconsistency

I don't know if this is a bug, an oversight or if it is meant to be this way, but it is something that seems wrong to me.

I have a bonecrusher which automatically picks up all bones. Then when I am fighting frost dragons, and my inventory becomes full, they are dropped on the ground instead, but they don't get a loot beam even if they are above my set limit at 10K.

Shouldn't they get a loot beam like they do if I don't use the pick-up option on the bonecrusher?
