Guide to Unalligned:
Welcome brave soul, to this quick guide on drawing unalligned ASCII Art, in this section you will learn:
- Basic Characters
- Curves and Angles
- Shading
- Signing your Artwork
Basic Characters
There are
ALOT
of different characters you can use to draw an ASCII picture with, most of which you will discover as time goes by. You will even form a sort of attachment to different characters, and this will become your style of drawing. For now though, lets go over some of the more commonly used characters:
¸ 0149
· 0183
• 0149
¬ 0172
´ 0180
ˆ 0136
˜ 0152
¨ 0168
¯ 0175
The codes you see to the right of them are called "ALT Codes" and are what code you must input into your NumPad whilst holding down the ALT key. When you release the ALT key, the corresponding character will appear in your drawing.
Curves and Angles
Here you see that I drew an angle using the characters from above and a few more just to form a nice line:
_ ¸ , . - · ~ ^ * ` ' ´ ` ˆ ˜ ¨ ¯
I can extend this line by adding another row of the same characters underneath it and by lining them up:
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . ._ ¸ , . - · ~ ^ * ` ' ´ ` ˆ ˜ ¨ ¯
_ ¸ , . - · ~ ^ * ` ' ´ ` ˆ ˜ ¨ ¯
As you can tell by where the 2 lines intersect; this line has 2 curves, and a corner.
You can get a more prominent corner by mixing up the characters and using more lines in the paragraph:
. . . . . . . . . . . . . ¸-;-¸
. . . . . . . . . . . ¸-´ . ; . `-¸
. . . . . . . . . ¸-´ . . . ; . . . `-¸
. . . . . . . ¸-´ . . . . . ; . . . . . `-¸
. . . . . ¸-´ . . . . . . . ; . . . . . . . `-¸
. . . . . .´¯¨˜ˆ´`'´*-, .; ,-*`'`´ˆ˜¨¯`
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . ',_,'
This pyramid has a nice corner at the top.
