A man was preparing to get his dream job as a barber. For months he’s been studying proper haircutting technique. He has painstakingly flipped through each page of the most rigorous hair textbooks, watched video tutorials from the best salons, and read countless articles about current hairstyles.
Finally, it was the day of his job interview. He hit it off really well with his interviewer, impressing her with his deep knowledge of hair culture and barber vocabulary.
His interviewer said “I think you’d be a great addition to this salon, but first I want to see how you do on the practical exam.”
They both left her office and entered the salon. A model with beautiful hair sat in front of the mirror. “Go ahead and give her a trim” the interviewer told the man.
The man was very nervous as he shampooed the model’s hair. He brought the model back to her seat and pulled out his scissors. He was so anxious that he just stood there, unable to snip any of her hair. He ran his hands through her hair, trying to determine where best to cut, but he couldn’t bring himself to do it.
After ten minutes of waiting, his interviewer stood up and said, “I’m sorry but we can’t offer you a job here. You just didn’t make the cut.”
