July 2020: I looked a long time for proof that this was possible on a F2P Ironman on RS3. After about 3000 kills i finally got this message.

Thank you for posting! It's been a great motivator ever since I've heard about this ability...
Killed 1000+ ghosts in the wilderness (during Halloween event) and nothing. Went to the Varrock sewers since someone mentioned getting it there and still nothing. Then decided to go to the Stronghold and finally I have something to show for all that hard work.

I'm not an iron, but I got Cremation on my F2P account while working on a Slayer task.

I had to kill 16 ghosts, which I did inside Draynor Manor. Ghost #15 gave up the drop. I've been putting out fire with gasoline!
