Greetings, and welcome to my goal page!

I am but a humble skiller, resurrected from a former life. I know it’s not all that original to have a level 3 ultimate ironman, but it’s the logical conclusion of everything I’ve done. Not only will I be trying to do everything based on my own efforts, I’m going to be doing so without any of the benefit of monster drops. Or access to Morytania. Or the use of enchantment spells.

This account is new. I created it on December 4, 2018. However, I spent several years in the distant past on a similarly named account (then called “mr_ph3r”), ultimately reaching level 89 combat in 2005 and then deciding not to train it any further. After eight years on that account, I had reached 99 in all noncombat skills except dungeoneering and slayer, amassed nearly 300 quest points, and was pushing 100 million agility experience. I was a forum moderator back then, and I was good friends with two folks on the highscores frontpage at the time. However, major life changes led to me ultimately walking away from the game somewhat suddenly in 2011.

On a lark, I tried to recover that account two weeks ago. To my horror, somebody had been using that account as a combat account and had trained me to 118 combat, and perhaps worse, had changed the name I’d kept since 2003. (Weirdly enough, all of my material possessions appeared to be intact—cannonballs, anti-dragonfire potions, and prayer potions for slayer training.)

After poking around on RS3 for a hot second, though, I realized that it had changed too much for me to feel comfortable there. Therefore, I decided that the best play was to start from scratch on Old School. And, apparently, to do everything else from scratch too.

I wasn’t the best skiller in the world in 2009. After an exhaustive search on the ultimate ironman highscores, I won’t be the best one in this category either. But I’m excited for the opportunity to make a bit of a name for myself, to carve out a niche, the way I had done before.

I have the outlines of a comprehensive plan regarding how I want to train over the next two years. Those goals are already ambitious, and I’m still in the process of learning what is and isn’t going to be much, much harder than I remember from when I had at least a little combat leeway (and the ability to use banks). As such, so as not to jinx myself (and to take into account the realities of regular short breaks I’ll have to take due to my life situation), I’m going to try to hold myself to overall plans that are no more than a month or two at a time. Read on for the first one!

O V E R V I E W

I’m starting simple: I believe I can get to level 1000 before a previously planned trip in late January. Easier said than done for an ultimate ironman that needs to rely on general stores for their income, but I made some reasonable progress in free-play that should help me along.

(Please note that in order to complete Druidic Ritual, I had to kill a bear, which bumped me to 2 ranged. Therefore, these skill goals add up to 983 rather than 984.)

A quick summary, with more detail below:
Agility: 81/81 *COMPLETE*
Construction: 55/56
Cooking: 64/75/77
Crafting: 51/57/57 *COMPLETE*
Farming: 56/56 *COMPLETE*
Firemaking: 64/80/80 *COMPLETE*
Fishing: 61/73/74
Fletching: 70/70 *COMPLETE*
Herblore: 52/52 *COMPLETE*
Hunter: 70/70 *COMPLETE*
Mining: 50/60/60 *COMPLETE*
Runecrafting: 18/35/35 *COMPLETE*
Slayer: 24/24 *COMPLETE*
Smithing: 42/52/52 *COMPLETE*
Thieving: 62/62 *COMPLETE*
Woodcutting: 61/77/77 *COMPLETE*

TOTAL: 433/996/1000

*For free-play skills, I am using a 3-number format, with the first number signifying the level I had attained in free-play worlds.

AGILITY: 81/81 *COMPLETE*
On my old account, I was obsessed with agility. I was on the hiscores frontpage on two different occasions (once as high as #7), and I’d made it nearly to 100M experience when I stopped playing. When skillcapes were released, I had an untrimmed agility cape, arguably one of the rarer capes in the game, and I’m going to aim to purchase another on this account (which means I’m going to be trying to hold off on some of the more foundational 99s like woodcutting, mining, and cooking).

If I’m going to have virtually no access to teleports, gaining run energy more quickly and having shortcut access is going to be hugely important as well. As such, I’m going to prioritize agility anyway, with an initial goal of 80 for shortcut purposes. (There are higher-level shortcuts, but not ones I think I’d expect to use.)

I will not have access to Morytania, which rules out the Werewolf/Canifis courses, nor will I have access to Ape Atoll, which rules out the Monkey course. I also will not be risking the Wilderness Course, as I have no bank access and would have to carry literally everything I own with me. As a result, my plan is to train at the Gnome course until level 10, then various rooftop courses until 80, which is my initial goal.

THIEVING: 62/62 *COMPLETE*
FARMING: 56/56 *COMPLETE*
HERBLORE: 52/52 *COMPLETE*
I’m treating these three together for the time being. Since I will not have the benefit of monster drops and I am not allowed to participate in Miscellania (nor, for what it’s worth, would I be able to access that quest as a level 3), my primary source of herbs will be growing them, and my primary source of seeds will be stealing them, first from the seed stall and ultimately from master farmers. In the meantime, I’ll be waiting and hoping for Vinesweeper to reappear, as that is how I went from 86 to 99 farming on my original account.

I’m expecting a much higher thieving level than the other two for two reasons: 1) master farmers require 38 thieving to pickpocket, and the seed stall doesn’t drop herb seeds; and 2) I suspect that thieving might be one of the faster ways for me to gain money that I can use for other skills below...

WOODCUTTING: 61/77/77 *COMPLETE*
FLETCHING: 70/70 *COMPLETE*
I can essentially cut willow logs anywhere. Other than waiting until 86 smithing to make one myself, the only place I can buy a rune axe is at the Woodcutting Guild, so I need to grind Hosidius House favor until I can enter.
FAVOR: 100% (locked in), rune axe bought

CONSTRUCTION: 55/56 (92%)
Because ultimate ironmen are not allowed to use their butlers to bank or sawmill, I’ll be placing my house in Kourend, near the second sawmill, as soon as possible. (This will also require the same woodcutting guild access mentioned above.) I will have to cut my own oak logs, but I do not anticipate that being an issue (and I’ve reserved some xp for that as well).

HUNTER: 70/70 *COMPLETE*
This is going to require a multitude of different training options, but it will primarily be kebbits and salamanders, with red chins held off until after 73.

FIREMAKING: 64/80/80 *COMPLETE*
Wintertodt! I get extra raw materials to work with from the game, and the fletching and construction xp is a nice bonus as well.

FISHING: 61/73/74 (87%)
COOKING: 64/75/77 (85%)
Since I can’t buy things to bank and cook, I have to cook the fish I catch. Since I also can’t sell the fish I cook for major money and never need anything that heals more than 9hp, I have no incentive not to use trout and salmon, which I can essentially sell to general stores for roughly the cost of the feathers. And since I can’t access Shilo Village (the bosses in the quest can easily one-hit me), I will be doing so in Lumbridge, near the only teleport I can easily do. (Since this is a free-play location, I am making this a low priority, just in case.)

SLAYER: 24/24 *COMPLETE*
Just lamps!

MINING: 50/60/60 *COMPLETE*
SMITHING: 42/52/52 *COMPLETE*
Given that I do not have Blast Furnace access, this is going to be one of the more tedious sets to train. My plan is to just smelt iron (at 50%), since I cannot take advantage of rings of forging or goldsmithing gauntlets.

CRAFTING: 51/57/57 *COMPLETE*
Since I have virtually no access to leather supplies (dragon or otherwise), my crafting path will have to be somewhat unorthodox.

In free-play, I had a pretty good system of tiara crafting, which I think could port over to the silver stall in Ardougne. If I am short on mining xp, I could also revert to that free-play method.

RUNECRAFTING: 18/35/35 *COMPLETE*
Runecrafting is probably the most different skill for me right now with the ability to use a bank or combat. Because carrying talismans is unrealistic, I am training runecrafting solely through Ourania, and through the long passageway rather than chancing it in the other direction.

TOTAL LEVEL AT TIME OF MEMBERSHIP: 433
TOTAL LEVEL NOW: 996
TOTAL LEVEL GOAL: 1000

As of January 12, 2018, there are eighteen level-3 UIMs who have over 1000 total (I am in the process of periodically tracking them to determine if they're active or not). Most have multiple 99s, so nobody will mistake my goal levels for the same kind of skillers they are, but I think being in the top 20 is a start.
