When do you peeps normally quit trying and just close Runescape after you cannot fulfil a goal only due to RNG? I normally set goals for myself such as quest requirements, lvl, xp, etc. But this is the first time I've come across something that is pure RNG in order to fulfill the skill achievements.

It is Archeology. I've spent over 130 hours at Bandos Sanctum Debris and have zero spear tips. I completely understand how ridiculous this complaint would be if it was complaining about RNG for getting a certain boss drop, but the reason for doing so is literally just fulfilling the Arch book requirements.

All in all, I'm pretty burnt out and think 150 hours is the most I will put into this effort. I know this sounds very self indulgent and cry-baby-ish, however I am interested in knowing that your limits are when it comes to trivial (or not) RNG requirements Jagex places on us in order to fulfill achievements/ move forward with this game.

Edit 3/19:

Over 2 months later and after approximately 350 hours in total, I finally got my first Spear Tip.

It was miserable.

Spear tip is 1/50,000. It's the same for everybody (I think).

Am i correct in assuming each time you gather something (including soil) there is a roll for it? If that is the case, you gather something every 2s (ish) so lets do a bit of math:

You spent 350hr, that's 21,000 minutes, half that for the 2s resource gathering rate - it works out you got it in 1/10,500, which is better than the 1/50,000 quoted on the wiki!

I'm almost 200m in arch and have trained it mostly through gathering mats at that place.

I don't know how much 'luck enhancers' affect this, maybe T4 luck 1/2's the quoted odds but I certainly don't feel like it's 1/50,000. It feels more like 1/10,000 to me.

Just don't think about it, let it be a nice surprise, better that way.

I got over 200m during this process and then well exceeded it already. Was using LOTD the whole time as well. Using the auto sifter and porters. In a given hour I used up approximately 885 charges and gained 8.3333 artifacts. I kept track of how many artifacts I had used up and it was an even easier task after hitting 200m since there was no need to restore any. I wish I achieved this in 1/10,500 nor 1/50,000, but rather believe it was around 1/300,000.
