First off, I'd like to note that I hadn't played Runescape for several years before coming back for the mobile beta. It's possible things have changed since I last played.

It's simple. There are quite a bit of things in Runescape that are broken or wasted if you just want to get in a short play session, for example, on your 15 minute break at work or lunch. These aren't really urgent, but should probably be fixed before full public release.

Here are a few things:

Auras need to pause their timers when you log out. It's a complete waste of an aura to activate it for only 10-15 minutes and then waste it because you're not playing for the other half or 75% of its usage. The cooldown timer should not pause while logged out, though. It would suck to have 20 minutes left, log out until the next day and then find out the aura only has 20 minutes left instead of an hour.

This functionality sort of already exists with scrimshaws, so that proves aura pausing is possible to be added.

Boss instances need to save their remaining time if you leave the instance. It's a waste of 200K to pay for an hour when you're only going to be able to be online for 15 minutes. On a side note, I couldn't figure out how to extend the instance timer in Bandos GWD, so I had to leave and restart it.

Buffs like bonfire HP boost or remaining time on potions need to pause when you log out, if not already.

Now this might be controversial, but I think there should be a pause button for monster agression (not bosses). It's actually rather frustrating trying to manage your inventory, disassemble items or check Augmented Gear progress, but the next monster has already spawned and keeps force closing your interfaces.

There should of course be limitations on a pause button, such as moving or attacking unpauses it.

Afraid that none of this makes sense for a desktop game. Sorry Bud...
And about your auras argument.... Most auras will be fully reset within a few hours..

Mobile is an extension. Not a game itself.

Hax is right y would u pop an aura if u already know ur not gonna fully use it? And a few hour charge time is fine anyways

As for monster attacks that's the same as reg rs3 u can still disassemble stuff but takes a bit so either save till u can actually do it or do it between attacks no point complaining about disassembling its more a afk thing to do anyways and if ur worried about 200k for a boss instance don't do it on a 15 minute break or just use the non instance option no one's making u pay for the instance gwd1 needs to let u rejoin ur session like it does in gwd2 though that I agree with because I dc a lot at arma and re getting kc is annoying

Pots keep their timer even after u log bonfires im not sure about since I don't personally use them but even so it's not hard to resign the effect of it

This can be a frustrating community to be a part of sometimes. Everyone is so used to masochism that any quality of life suggestions are poo-pooed instantly.

Now that the interface is slowly becoming more polished, I think it's time to look at what can be changed to improve the quality of life for the types of people Jagex is trying to attract to the game. And, in my mind, that target should be returning players that quit due to time-commitments, and busy schedules.

I think the OP here has some alright suggestions and some not so great suggestions, but he touches on something really important. How are we going to appeal to a new audience with Runescape Mobile without making big changes? The latest Beta increase has gotten an enormous portion of the RS3 playerbase in it already.

Releasing and developing this app isn't supposed to be a nice addition to our current content, it's supposed to help revitalize the game and bring players like OP back into the game. It turns out that these players that quit before aren't looking to sink a solid 3 hours of gameplay straight, which is exactly what runescape is optimized for.

I guarantee I would enjoy runescape more if I could, say, dip into some low/mid-level boss content for 15 minutes. But the way it is set up, I can but I absolutely won't because there is so much extra cost associated with doing that.

I hope Jagex decides to look into these kinds of gameplay mechanics. Aura timers, bonfire boosts, boss timers... Those are all great candidates for improvement, like the OP laid out.

In my own small overlooked opinion... Mobile came because this game takes years for the average person to even max out on. Mobile will allow those players to enjoy leveling easier skills on the go, waiting for a bus, waiting for the next college class... yada yada.

--Mobile did not come for peeps who log in renew their troop purchases upgrade buildings.. yada yada...
