My son was previously using a Note 5 and was unable to play RS mobile on it due to what I'm assuming is the android version. I had an old Galaxy S5 that had RS installed under my google login. I gave my son that phone and he reformated and logged in with his google account but is unable to download the RS (Early release) download. Also, the page where it should be states that the phone is NOT compatible, but I was able to play it on that phone when I was using it.

So, in short,

1) Why is it no longer compatible with an S5?

2) Why can't my son download the app when he has had it previously?

Reformatting a phone wipes all the files from it, including apps. Because the early access beta reached its cap, no new downloads can be done through the Play Store, even if you've previously had the app on your device.

I am confused about something though. What version of Android is your S5 running? I know that, on release, they shipped with Android 4 (which would not be compatible with the app) but they could be upgraded afterwards.

Regarding the Note 5, the mobile beta is still very much that - a beta. While Jagex did outline some basic system specifications needed for running it (Android 5 or higher, plus 2GB RAM), those system specifications are subject to major change as Jagex continues to develop the mobile platform. As Jagex said in their FAQ, " subject to ongoing performance and compatibility improvements, at present, some devices will not be able to install or update to the latest version. "

You said on the previous phone you had the beta downloaded with YOUR login and on the new phone he logged in with HIS login.

If I'm understanding correctly, it sounds like your Google account has the BETA access and his Google account doesnt.

Edit: Updated to specify "Google account".

@Lisaa Can you confirm this? Because, just a few weeks ago I was able to log in to my tablet with my google account that I use on my phone and download the beta there too.

Meaning, as long as you have access to the beta on a specific Google Play account you can download it from any device as long as it's with the Google Play account you have beta access with.
