The same thing happened to me, I used hundred of herbs and no chemistry proc. is there a way to get the points auto completed with botanist unlock? are the points forever lost?

Your lucky I can't kill ANY superior monsters because the Unnatural Selection relic gives ZERO options for monsters that have Superior versions.
