Hello everyone. So around a year ago I was playing OSRS on my PC on my main account and was a complete idiot and decided to bot agility because I really hate training agility. My account got a well deserved week temp ban. After a week, on the day my account was unbanned, I logged in on mobile as I was not at home to be able to login on my PC. I was able to play for a while but then a couple days after, I tried to login again and my account was banned again. This time, it was a permanent ban for botting even though I only botted the first time. Obviously I wouldn't bot again as that would just be stupid for me to do especially since the temp ban told me that I would be perma banned if I decided to bot again. I'm assuming something in Jagex's systems detected that I was playing on mobile and something set off the botting detector that they have. I was using the official OSRS app. I submitted an appeal to be unbanned but it was denied as I assume they think I actually botted the second time even though I did not. I am posting this to hopefully get unbanned since I never botted a second time and to share what exactly happened. I have a ton of hours on my main account and I would really like to be able to play on it again. Thank you in advance to anyone that is able to help me! Xyros

Hi SoulDareFree,

It will be a good idea to review the Rules of RuneScape , and making sure that you only play using standard equipment that comes with your device. Using any 3rd party or modified tools, software, weights, you risk getting banned for macroing. If you share account with other players, avoid doing so in the future.
If you haven't already, consider securing your device, email and accounts.
Securing your account

As Jagex manually reviewed your account and had reason to doubt your innocence, you will have to consider it a user-error on your end.

Hi Corder,

I understand where you're coming from but I didn't use any 3rd party software on my phone, and I did not share my account with anyone. I obviously understand botting the first time was a big mistake but I paid the price of the temp ban but I do not deserve the perm ban. This is not user error as I used the official OSRS app on my phone and I believe it is their system that made the mistake thinking that I botted a second time from playing on mobile.

If any mod can please help me sort this out I would greatly appreciate it.

Hmm. It could be the botting software installed malware on the device that you botted on. This could have remote controled your device and caused Jagex systems to detect more macroing.

If you didn't remove all of the botting software, it's possible it somehow got detected.

Rest assured, Jagex are sure in their case - the ban would stay and your option is to create a new account. Sorry if that sounds robotic, but this is the reality of macroing. :|

I am in IT and believe me, there is no malware on my PC. I was in a different state when I logged into the mobile app so I am thinking that is why it thought it was botting or being hacked. I appreciate you trying to help but I am going to keep trying until I get a Jagex mod to look over my account and situation. I have too much invested into this account to start a new one. Xyros

It's possible that your account would be locked for playing from a different location.

Though it wouldn't be banned.

Jagex has manually reviewed the appeal and didn't find any reason to believe that you are innocent. Any further attempts at appealing will not help, JMod's will just be running around in circles. :(

Isn't that the whole point of a manual ban? A Jagex mod already looked over your account and situation and found you wanting. Sounds like you got caught with your hand in the cookie jar... What makes you think they would change their mind?

Post script: OSRS hasn't been corrupted by pay to win and your admitted use of software to gain an unfair advantage in the game is a severe affront to the integrity of the game. Why should someone with such a toxic offense be allowed to victimize the community further with potentially recidivous behavior? Shouldn't one such egregious offense be sufficient for a lifetime ban? I am genuinely curious to engage with you further and understand your logic on this matter.
