Currently the app is not compatible with background app refresh on iOS. As a result, any time you switch apps for more than a minute you are logged out as the app is no longer receiving an internet connection. If you lock your screen you are logged out almost instantly. It’s incredibly frustrating and almost doesn’t make the app worth using over something like teamviewer.

This is universal to any iOS app requiring a continuous internet connection to operate and not the Old School Runescape app.

If you don't want your device to time-out and Auto-Lock as quickly, or never, you can adjust your settings to do so.

Settings > Display & Brightness > Auto-Lock > *Select a longer time or never*

Note: This lowers your phones security! If you leave it somewhere, it will not Auto-Lock and therefore anyone can access it. Remember to change these settings back to a given time limit after you're done playing.

It’s not universal to iOS apps

Some apps have an option to allow background refresh and that allows them to refiere an internet connection even when in the background. Osrs mobile does not currently have an background refresh option and thus will log out when switching apps.

Like OP said, this is very annoying and it would be great if jagex fixed it

I’m not sure this has been addressed after this long. It does seem that the background refresh option is now available in the app, but you still are disconnected after about 30 seconds when the app is backgrounded.

Is this still unsupported or am I doing something wrong?

HEEELLOOOOO Jaageex, this issue still remains, if i just switch the apps and change a Soundtrack, this will immediately log me out, and i lose 22k coins to nmz each time... as well as my nerves!!! this cant just be like this, background data is activated!!! Dont focus on content for maxed out players, and let us in the rain with standart sh*t!!!!

Yes it does still remain, I am no expert but I believe it is more of an apple thing than on the clients end, background app refresh has never really solved this issue, as another user suggested you just have to leave your screen unlocked. ><> ~ W22 Fish ~ <><

Ridiculous. I switched from android to ios yesterday, and never would have if I knew this problem existed. Wtf is going on. I have lost so much money already and almost died because i checked a text and got disconnected from the server.
