I am a player of 15 years. Recently came back to OSRS when they launched mobile for iOS. I have a 3rd Gen (Most recent model) iPad Pro 12.9inch which is what I primarily play on.

I wish I were exaggerating when I say my game LITERALLY freezes if there are more than 15-20 players around me.

I am not the only one experiencing this issue either. It is basically anybody with an iOS device.

I have legitimately lost over 100m from dying to these freezes because PvP is my favorite content in the game and thats where the game tends to freeze a lot.

I have posted videos on twitter showing my game freezing 10+ times in a 2 minutes span just standing at GE.

Sometimes you can*t even play at all. For example if you’re standing at GE and there aren’t any worlds with less than 20 people standing at GE, every time you log in your game will INSTANTLY freeze.

Why do I pay a membership fee for a game that is extremely limited to me? Why would you launch mobile as available for players but refuse to fix game bugs that prevent these players from playing the game in its entirety. It’s ridiculous.

PVP-Freeze
Any Boss that isn’t a solo boss-Forget about it
Bank standing at GE-freeze
Any mini game-freeze
Duel arena-freeze
New content-freeze
POH worlds-freeze

Seriously I am sick of exploiting this HUGE issue with 0 acknowledgement from the Old School team other than “report it in game lol gl”.

Sincerely,
A nearly lifelong player on the verge of quitting

I’m having the exact same issues on my iPad Pro, and I really wish crashing wasn’t so common because my iPad is my favorite way to play OSRS. Is there any plans or even hope for love to be given to iPads in general in regards to optimization in the future? I actually think the UI is really great and the game looks good, I just wish it was stable at 60 FPS when many games have moved on to supporting 120 FPS on the iPad. (Which would be incredible if OSRS supported that, but I’ll ask for one thing at a time. ;)

Is there any update on this? I stopped playing on my iPad because of how trash this game is on it. It would be so much better than on a phone. It looks good, but anytime I go anywhere where a lot is going on (grand exchange, bursting nechs, etc) the game freezes. I just logged in at the grand exchange and I’ve had to close the game and reopen it 3 times already. It freezes as soon as I click on anything.

I get the same problem when running OSRS in my iPad Pro 12.9 2017. Cant go into any area where theirs too many players. I'm not even talking world 2 G.E amount of players, just litterally 30+ players in the area. Hopefully this gets optimized ASAP, they are not cheap devices and if your given the chance to download it onto the device it shouldn't crash as much as it does. Shame for players who have been badly effected from these crashes. :(

I had this problem for a minute too, I’m on an ipad pro as well. But, I followed some of the suggestions DayLight linked to us and it seems to have fixed it while hanging out at the GE on 301.

The thing that really fixed it among all the suggestions was dropping the frame rate down to 30 in high player traffic areas. I know it kind of sucks to have to do so, but at least it’s not freezing around people anymore. I also turned the building roofs off, idk if the roof thing really helped but I would imagine so.

I also have been a player for 15+ years and recently decided to come back due to the game being able to be played on mobile devices. At work I have my newest Gen IPad Pro. The best one money can buy - and I’m baffled that RuneScape can*t run on it efficiently unless you are on your own somewhere doing a slayer task or skilling. Forget Grand exchange transactions or any type of mini game. Mini games are the worst because as soon as you try to log back in (even within 30 seconds) it auto boots you and you lose everything you worked for and can*t even get back into another game due to a *timer” for “leaving early”.

You would think the game would know how someone got disconnected and see that they are logging back in immediately and not penalizing them for this. It is a FANTASTIC idea releasing the game for mobile devices, and making it Cross play with PC etc with the app, however before you roll something like this out, you would at least make sure you can play the game in its entirety. Not just bits and pieces. Really is a very poor experience trying to do anything with anyone else in game - which is what makes the game fun.
