Recently I found out about the desktop client being played through Chromes remote desktop. I have been using it for a few days now and reading more about it. I have mixed feelings right now. I love that I can mindlessly gain xp in NMZ while I'm at work on the remote desktop where I would always miss the timer for the mobile when my screen went black and be logged out. I'm trying to take advantage of my time that doesnt require my 100% attention to gain as much xp as possible. I want to be sure that I'm adhering to the rules.

1. Is the use of Chrome remote desktop breaking any Jagex rules?

2. Is there a way to not be logged out so quickly on the mobile client?

3. Is the use of the runelite client in combination with the remote desktop a problem?

Thanks in advance!

Hi there
Curb Stomps
,

To answer your questions...

1. Is the use of Chrome remote desktop breaking any Jagex rules?

It is not against the rules to be using a remote desktop provider such as Chrome. However, using it is at your own risk. I have read cases on Reddit of people that have supposedly been banned from using this.

2. Is there a way to not be logged out so quickly on the mobile client?

If your phone has any kind of power or data saving mode enabled for periods of inactivity, it may be limiting the data to the app—the app treats that as a disconnection and logs you out. Same thing happens if you have data disabled for background apps and you swap to a different app.

3. Is the use of the RuneLite client in combination with the remote desktop a problem?

Same answer as question 1, it is not against the rules to use approved third party clients such as RuneLite and OSBuddy. However of course, using any of these, as well as the remote desktop, is at your own risk.

Hope this helps.

I understand the "at your own risk" statement as it is broad and safe from the standpoint of those who have to enforce the rules. I DO NOT consider myself technically savvy and often times have little trust in my own interpretations of how the rules specifically apply to third party programs outside of using a bot. I did find a twitter post which showed a mod specifically saying that the remote desktop applications are allowed to be used because they are able to tell that you are logging in from a remote desktop somehow. Thanks for the reply.
