VPN ban?

I rececently wanted to start playing my osrs account again. I had an account that i made in 2017 and played it for about a month or 2. But when i recently tryed to log back in it was banned, the ban date was march 2019, it said i had botted. I never used a bot nor did i play around the time i was banned. I sometimes played at a local library where i might have gotten hacked and maybe someone botted on my account or maybe it was because i often used NordVPN while playing and maybe the IP got flagged for botting( i am not sure how that could work but i am just speculating) I am not really sure. However i now started a new account, i still use NordVPN because of different matters but am not sure if this is safe.

My question is, is it still save to use a VPN?, i dont want my account to be banned again for any reason.

No one can give you a guarantee about using a VPN.
The only thing I will say is that, if you ever lose access to the account (from being hijacked) it will be extremely difficult to recover it if you have used a VPN for a lot of the time.

Have you tried appealing the ban on your 2017 account?
Macroing bans can be appealed.
Go to the Account Bans support page, read it and use the appeal button at the bottom.

I also recommend you set up Authenticator to protect your account.
Authenticator can be set up on a phone or USB stick and be very portable if you are logging in to the game from different devices/locations.

Hi,
Thanks for the respond.
It says it is permanetly banned, so it is probably gone, so sad because i put in so many hours that summer..

I try to stay on the same VPN server, maybe that will help, plus i choose a server thats near to me so i hope i wont get in trouble

Hi,

Maybe this can help you out.

NordVPN normally has this feature, it's called Split Tunneling.
Split Tunneling is a feature that allows you to exclude applications or certain IP addresses from being routed through the VPN tunnel.

In the Settings you can enable the feature and then "exclude application", in your case you would select the RuneScape Launcher (located at C:\Program Files\Jagex\RuneScape Launcher , if you are using Windows).

This way you would only connect to the RunScape servers with your own IP, but every other application on your device will be using the VPN tunnel.
