Good afternoon,
I have been experiencing the same error message while trying to use the OSRS Mobile device on my phone. Whenever I go to load the app it starts up and loads until the "connecting to update server" message appears, which persists indefinitely. I never make it to the actual login screen.
This message has been appearing on my device for a about a week. I've tried clearing the cache and removing app data on my device, however the message is not going away.
