Hi,

Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask this. But i've got a query about using OSRS Mobile version on a Chromebook, i've got one with the full Android store, until very recently OSRS used to just shut off after about a couple of seconds of playing. However, now it does seem to be working fine.

This may sound a dumb question, but is it against Terms of service to use the built in track-pad on my Chromebook? I'm sure I read somewhere about 3rd party stuff not being allowed, but the track-pad is built in But I get that on mobile you wouldn't normally be able to use a mouse.

Could someone clear this up before I start playing? I would hate to throw away hundreds of hours and getting banned, Cheers

I'm glad you're now able to play OSRS Mobile on your Chromebook. ^_^

To keep it simple, you're 100% allowed to use a track-pad to play OSRS. It's simply a type of mouse.

The third-party software rule comes into play if you're using a special program to do things like macros or hot keys which you wouldn't be able to do with standard input devices.

There is no rule regarding the type of hardware input devices you can use as a mouse or keyboard. I've seen people play OSRS with a foot pedal. :P

After updating the OSRS mobile client to version: 215.4 on my Chromebook, when I attempt to launch the client it starts to load then immediately closes. Both my Chromebook and OSRS client have been updated (as of 2 Aug 23) but I can't figure out how to get the client to load. The mobile app works on my phone so I know it's not a server issue. I have cleared the app cache, uninstalled/reinstalled the app, restarted my device; every suggested fix I could find online. Any advice would be appreciated. I know unexpected things happen, but I hate paying for member service when I cannot access my account for at least two days now.

I do believe ChromeOS no longer supports Runescape and Oldschool Runescape. They have stopped supporting it back in either April or May as can be read in their news post. I have seen Mod Gecko, over at the OSRS Discord, reach out to people who used to play on Chromebooks; worth a shot to reach out to them as well if you’d feel like doing so. Ooh, shiny things!

Original message details are unavailable.
Since saturday I can no longer open the app on my chromebook. The app closes itself immediately. is there a solution for this?

There hasn’t been a solution for this as of yet other than using the Nvidia GeForce Now program. I believe you will be able to play an X amount of hours before being logged out from the service ( Their premium version does not have this and let’s you play as long as you’d like ).

I have seen people having more luck when changing to Linux on their Chromebooks, but I am not too familiar with that. Mod Gecko has been trying to get in touch with Chromebook users through the official OSRS Discord. Perhaps you will have more luck reaching out to them.
