I can see you are not happy with how this year's April Fool's is carried out but I'm sure Jagex does not have harmful intentions behind it. It has been quoted on the last line of the news article: Don't think too much about it.

Though we do not permit discussion of such topics in general. This is the part where players will start to give in their response and/or hurt the community.
