Double XP Event Question

I do understand that we have 10 days to get our double XP, but the article said that the time starts as soon as you log in to the game. My question is does it stop each time you log out, or does it keep going for 48 hours once you log in for the first time after the event starts?

Yes.

There are restrictions though on prayer XP, such as not any bonus XP gained on gilded altars and no extra XP from wearing the Dragon Rider Amulet, burying dragon bones.
Never drop a valuable item.
