There could be a couple of reasons for this:
* a technical reason
* a payment method reason

To deal with the technical reason first, do a cache clear of your browser.
Instructions: Clear browser cache

Then try the payment again.
If it still doesn't work, the next question would be:
How did you make your previous payment and are you changing the way you pay e.g. from paying through a mobile app to paying through a pc?
If you are changing your payment method, that can sometimes create problems as the different payment methods aren't all compatible with each other.

If you are changing your payment method, from app based to pc based or vice versa, you have to wait until the existing membership is fully used up and the account returned to F2p.
The two payment systems are incompatible with each other and you can't swap straight from one to the other.
The account has to actually completely drop out of membership.

Firstly I cancelled my membership as I only had 7 days left and it said my subscription was for 3 months (which doesn't exist anymore) but it was actually premier membership purchased before you changed the rules back in Oct/Nov last year.

I was logged into my account and in the lobby and tried to renew my membership by clicking on the membership icon there. I tried this several times on my laptop and also cleared my browser cache. Nothing worked.

This morning I logged into my pc and went to the Runescape website and clicked on Shop then Membership and was able to get Premier membership straight away.

I hope this clarifies what happened and sorry to confuse you. I confused myself lol.
