New Premier lost old pricing

Hi all, since it came out I got the Gold Premier each year and still showed my active membership from I believe 2010 for the grandfathered pricing. I just bought the new 12 month version of the premier package and now my grandfathered membership disappeared on the account manager - current subscriptions. In the news post it said we would keep our previous pricing but I don't think that happened, as I got charged the full 113.99 (CAD). Anyone else have this issue or should I have waited? Didn't think it was going to automatically renew because of the change from Gold to monthly Premier, and it wasn't showing as an active subscription.

This is an interesting question!

Grandfathered pricing typically applied to all the regular memberships (1 month/3 months/6 months/12 months).
It never was applied to the Premier Club memberships. Why not? Because players received extras that they didn't get with a regular membership.

HOWEVER the membership system has gone through a significant re-work this year (back in May).

Regular memberships are now only the 1 month and 6 month memberships.
3 months has been done away with completely.
So your grandfathered pricing is only offered for the 1 month and 6 month subscriptions.

BUT WHAT ABOUT THE 12 MONTHS?
The old regular 12 months membership is also no longer offered.
Instead players buy a Premier Membership.

Premier Membership is not the same as the old Gold Premier Club.
It has all the same benefits/rewards but it is a recurring subscription, not a one-off, buy it each year purchase.

So the 12 month Premier Membership is not available at your old grandfathered price.
It has set a new price starting this year and this price will now grandfather going forward for any player that continues with the membership into the future.
It set a new price because it is a new product.

p.s. if you are purely chasing price value, it will be cheaper to sign up for the six month membership. Six months grandfathered x2 should be cheaper than Premier Membership.

This is false. In previous years, premier membership was discounted based on grandfathered rate.

I stand by what I say. Premier Club was never part of the grandfathered pricing.

Jagex specifically did not grandfather price Premier Club because of the all the extras that came with the deal.

I don't know what country you are in but these are the USA prices for Premier Club down the years:
2013 $74.95
2014 $86.50
2015 $107.99
2016 $107.99
2017 $79.49
2018 $79.49
2019 $89.99
2020 $89.99
2021 $89.99
2022 $69.99
These were fixed prices, no grandfather pricing.
