Jagex Launcher Won't Run

Hi!

I imported my account to the Jagex Account and I was able to import it successfully with the launcher. However, every time I try to run the launcher I get an error message saying "ERROR The launcher has experienced an error and needs to close - Process returned unknown error code".

I try uninstalling the launcher and re-installing. Also, I tried the option on repairing the launcher when trying to re-install. Unfortunately, neither of these two things fixed the problem.

I don't know if it's more related to a glitch to the app itself, but some help would be appreciated.

This started back in October, one of the newer Java versions messed up the osrs client causing it to not want to load.

jre-8u331 is a safe one to go back to that still works. sadly, little bit of messing around to do it; but, getting the older one from oracle, and then removing java to install the old one will do the trick.

this should be a temporary fix. the launcher is suggesting the new c++ client is due for launch soon Can I turn in a paper without citing all sources?
