I have an old system from 2012. A cheap Windows 8.1 Gateway from Walmart and the specs are not important (but it does load wrong icons incessantly *
rolling my eyes in exasperation
*). I only play RS3. Anyway ....
After this week's update, it seemed OSRS and others were having issues. As for me, my RS2Client.exe began loading three copies of itself instead of the normal single copy. Also, my game is stuttering and sluggish. After todays updated Launcher I hoped it would eliminate my triplicates and performance issues but it hasn't.
One thing of note, this exact same scenario had happened a few months ago and the Launcher update cleared up my duplicates and performance issues. Unfortunately, not this time.
Please keep this issue in mind Jagex if you are still working on continuing issues from the most recent update —
from 4 December 23 if I'm not mistaken
.
C.P.
P.S. Another reason this issue of triplicates is important to me is that my antiquated system plays RuneScape a bit better when I go to Windows Task Manager, choose the Details tab, and find RS2Client.exe in the list and set its priority from 'Normal' to 'Above normal' to give the game a boost so-to-speak. At the moment however, when it comes to elevating the game's Priority, I can only guess at which copy of RS2Client.exe is the most critical iteration of the game loaded into memory. I cannot be 100% sure. And of course, I cannot elevate the priority of all three copies. So, again, please keep this in mind. Cheers! and happy 'Scaping.
