Lag? choppy, new launcher

Firstly, I am not a techie type of person, so excuse the layman's language.

I have a HP gaming laptop. It recently went in for repair (issue with screen). took 6 weeks, so I havent played in 6 weeks (yes, was horrible!).

I have come back to the game and theres a new style of 'log in', a different Launcher I had to download.

Now instead of clicking on a runescape screen which I authenticated every 30 days , I have to log into a launcher, authenticate every day (Thats a pain!) and a much more complex password (thats a pain too) , and only then log into the game ....


and boy! its laggy !! I have given it a few days, but its still just as bad, I can hardly play. Everything i do is very choppy slow and just not good at all. I wondered if a few days of logging in might help but it hasn't, its just as bad. Tellying, bank opening - bad bad bad.

I am loathe to mess with the settings - I never had to before, it was smooth, fast and fun and I don't really want to lower anything besides - i don't know what I am doing.

When it went back for repair I completely took Rs off my laptop and re installed it via the new launcher.

Everything else I access still has the same super speed, just rs is bad.

so, questions -

1. any help suggestions on lag issue without compromising previous speed, graphics etc?
2. is there anyway to use the quicker old launcher, without having to log into launcher and log into game again?
3. anyway to do authenticator for 30 days now? there's no tick box anymore and I do not always have phone access.

(ps. i went and set a jagex account today, thats made log in worse and it will only let me log into forums on my B account not my main.)

Hm, i'm sorry you're having that issue! I'm not sure what the specific specs of your laptop are; However we can begin by checking if your laptop is using a dedicated GPU while playing RuneScape. To do this, monitor "Task Manager" and see if there a spike, or a percentage of your GPU being used. You can do this by right clicking the task bar or windows icon on the bottom right, clicking "Task Manager", clicking the second icon on the right side which will be the "Performance" tab, and looking at something called GPU or GPU 0 , or GPU 1 , whichever is your dedicated GPU if you have one, otherwise simply monitor your usage and see if there's any spikes or if it's flat. If you aren't getting much usage, i'd search on how to force your dedicated GPU to be used while playing RuneScape. It's a bit of a process so I can't list all the steps, but a simple google search should help with enabling that. Good luck!

you're right the new launcher is garbage but what did we expect from jagex pure garbage things are never tested enough before they release now i've transfered to the new launcher and cant go back

the game does nothing but lag and disconnect

pure trash from a pure trash company
