Two days ago I tried to migrate my account to the new Jagex Launcher on my Mac running Ventura v13.2.1. I carefully wrote down my new log-in name and password and entered the required verification code, but the installer glitched. When I tried to log in again, it took the login and the password and popped up a window saying it was sending a verification code to my email address. The email never arrives. I whitelisted all of Jagex's email accounts to no avail. I have spoken to my e-mail server's tier 2 support team to try to determine why this is happening. He said nothing on my e-mail account is inhibiting the posts. I rebooted my computer, modem and router. Still no help. So now I am locked out of the game. Anyone have any idea why this is happening and what I can do about it?

Have you tried going into 'my account' and then 'linked accounts' and see if adding g-mail or steam lets you log-in that way? I see you can still log in via forums, that's good. What about creating a new email for the Launcher with an 'alt' account and then try adding your main to it? Those are the 2 things that come to mind, but I'd contact support to be safe.

EDIT ((the images are for the player above, it's to add on to a chat we had in-game))
ps: i'm not sure if any of this will work but this is where i'd look first

Are you able to see your name ^ with 'account' under it? click that.

It'll take you to this page ^ hopefully the security codes will be the fix (?)

If support cannot help you with anything email related, maybe your jagex 'name' will help them? keep the # number (and name) private (don't post it here). Hopefully this helps O_o

I grabbed that link from my launcher, it might help (?)

Just thought I would pop in and say I'm having the same issue jagex simply won't send me the verification codes to log in I've been stuck like this for a week now, this jagex account could be the end of runescape if not fixed as one by one jag will glitch on each person and after a few months thousands of people will be locked out of their accounts,

Safety in numbers! don't lose hope. I've been talking with the chap whose account is locked at the verification step, all other emails seem to go through to the correct account, just not the verification one. So I think it's an issue on their end, just hold tight until they fix it.

If you were affected, they'll probably refund your membership in some way. It'll be on record that you stopped playing the game soon after migrating to the Jagex Launcher, etc.

On their end, they think they're sending you the verification (and for all we know they could be) but if it's not coming through to you, there's no way of them knowing. They can't look into your email.
I think the solution (for jagex) would be to revert any accounts back (if they havent verifyied within 1 week of migrating to the launcher). Because from what I've been told, support can't do much about this. It's a 'he said / she said' case. I can only assume what's going on.

I wonder if... having an alternate way of verifying might help, through text for example? I feel sorry for anyone locked out of their accounts because of this. Hopefully it's only a few cases. Support need to offer another way to verify. Could they look at the outgoing messages they are sending to those affected and re-send it through another email? It sounds like an issue with the automated system they've got. What a nightmare. GL O_o

PS: the original poster is not affected, he is posting on behalf of the guy who is locked out. Just pointing that out in-case Jagex think he is able to log-in via forums but not the game. He can't log into his main (at all) because it is stuck on the verification step of the J launcher.

Thank you for your post SLR. I wish Jagex showed as much concern as you do. I would think that since this is still in 'Beta' or testing stage, they would know that there will be bugs and would be willing to work with people who experience them. My father's account Holmes Adler has been locked out for almost a week as he tries to get it back. All because he became a game 'guinea pig' by attempting to upgrade to the new Jagex Acct Launcher. He, as you pointed out in your post, is not even able to reach out on the forums because he cannot log in to them either. He has been playing for over twelve years and his account was nearing 120 in all skills. As many retirees he enjoyed playing and interacting with the many friends he has made over the years. Now he is completely cut off from them. A recent response to an inquiry to Jagex support told him that it's unfortunate that to provide the level of security players want, some legitimate players will lose the ability to play the game. Jagex has no way of fixing whatever is wrong. This is from Mod Nox. We will likely not know how many other players are affected because they cannot post on forums to ask for help or support each other. Jagex is willing to sacrifice legitimate players 'for the greater good' in their opinion. I know many players who are now afraid to even attempt the upgrade after seeing what can happen. Its like playing Russian Roulette, you might upgrade with no problems, but if you're one of the unlucky ones who has something go wrong, you are just collateral damage in Jagex's eyes.

Unreal. How can they be sure this won't spread, as Werewolf suggested? Have they checked into why they have email issues? I found out a while back their newsletters were being blocked and I needed to add Runescape to my contacts.

I had the same exact problem with a different game, they told me there were issues with email delivery. I accepted defeat, but somehow they resolved it within days.

There has to be more to it.

Spaghettification of accounts is not really a good situation to be in. I find it hard to believe they don't understand the emotional attachment or how important the game is to long time players.

ESPECIALLY legitimate players. Expendable? Not to me. They must have enough information to restore those accounts.

it is frustrating this account has the same issue, im able to speak on the forums via a linked account but i cant log into my jag account for the launcher so cant play the game, Mod Eliza is basically telling me that the issue is with my email service provider click these links to fix it, unfortunately its not my side thats broken so theres nothing I can do.

Wait until this goes live and every man and his dog is forced to use a Jag account this bug thats affecting a small group now will soon esculate into the thousands and what will they do if it goes critical and just locks everyone out, for all we know there could be some type of spam filter that stops emails going out after so many and we just hit that limit all you can do is theorise at this point Jagex are refusing to help or see it as a problem pushing the blame back onto the player

Exactly Roddy Piper. I have played with my father on RS for years. He looked forward to getting on with me in the evening. We did quests, penguins and other things together. He is the heart of our RS Clan and we all feel like one of our own has died. He is cut off from us. Doesn't Jagex realize that as they used to say "There are real people behind the little avatars. Treat them with respect and as you would any person in real life." There are indeed real flesh and blood people behind the avatars. People who are being hurt by this 'bug' shutting them out of a family of friends. Whether Jagex realizes it or not many of its members are older people. People who may not be in tune with the latest in technology. People who may have forgotten 'little details' that Jagex wants to let them change an email or prove they are themselves. The old saying better to let 100 guilty men walk free than to hang one innocent man applies here. Isn't it better to let some questionable account on then to destroy legitimate players? I have played for over 15 years and have not been hacked or injured in any way by the old reasonable security system. Who are the players crying for increased security? Or is that just an excuse Jagex is spouting?

I think they will be able to resolve this, since all other emails from Jagex are going through to their correct mail. At first I thought they might have input the wrong email. Anyway, if they are able to fix it, it could take some time (if many are affected).

I wonder if they could add a 'revert' feature until they sort things out? I had a look on the RS Discord, just out of curiosity, and you guys aren't alone.

Keep your names and emails private. There will be hackers looking at these sorts of threads, hoping to get your details so that they can pose as you to support / steal your account.

---

EDIT (after chatting with the affected player in-game)

OK, so, it looks like Jagex have done everything they can and have confirmed the emails are being sent. From what I've been told. They said this is a highly unusual case and since they can't see or control anything on the players' side, there's not much more they can do. I'm thinking an incorrect email was used / the verification email is being sent elsewhere. I'm hoping the solution is so simple that we've overlooked it.

Advice seems to be... if you encounter someone else with this issue, talk to them, try to find commonalities; that might lead you to finding out where things are going wrong.
