Jagex Launcher not working

I did an update on my Lenovo laptop today which runs Windows 11. Jagex Launcher was fine before I ran the update but now won't work.

I have restarted the computer. I have run Launcher repair. I have removed and re-installed the Launcher.

If I click on the Launcher, it opens briefly, tells me it is checking for updates and then goes blank, just an empty box. Or it comes up with an error message telling me I am not connected to the internet (I am).

Any suggestions on what to do next would be appreciated.

Edit: Have got the Launcher starting. But it is saying name unavailable next to the 'settings' and I can't access any of my imported accounts. Then crashes.

Hi Myah,

Sorry to hear you've been experiencing issues with the launcher.

I have a few suggestions if you haven't tried them already.

- Are your graphic drivers up to date?
- Have you tried clearing cache ?
- Tried starting the launcher on a different local user?
- Running the launcher in compatibility mode?

Hope we can find the solution for the issue asap. There's always an option to revert the OS update if nothing else helps. :)

Thanks so much for providing help. Sorry about the delay - busy work day. :(

Drivers are up-to-date.

I'm not able to run on compatibility mode as it won't allow me to access the runescape launcher to choose this option and the Jagex launcher is crashing or giving me a blank box.

I will try deleting the cache again and see if that improves things - fingers crossed :)

Sorry, its actually worse now.

I've done all of the 4 recommendations. Now all I am getting is a white box. Hope we can get things back up and running soon

Have you tried force quitting the Jagex Launcher on Task Manager and then reopening the application? To do this, open Task Manager, go to the Processes tab, select Jagex Launcher, and click End Task. This completely ends the process which allows you to start the program on a clean slate. If you just exit the program, it will still run in the background.

It’s also worth double checking if your Launcher is allowed on your Firewall.

I think you should be able to still run the application in a Compatibility mode by right-click on the Jagex Launcher application, select Properties, go to Compatibility, choose the newest Windows version, and then click Apply.
If nothing changes and the issue keeps happening, you can uncheck the compatibility mode.

And finally do you have Explorer 11 installed? It turns out that you need to have that installed in order to run Jagex Launcher smoothly (you do not need to have it as a default browser).

After trying all these steps, if you’re still having issues with Jagex Launcher, reinstalling it again couldn’t hurt.

You can always revert to the previous version of the operating system as a last resort. To do this, go to Windows Update, then click on Update History and select Uninstall Updates.

I hope this improves the situation :)
