Hi! Sorry to bother you all but I have a strange bug that's been happening consistently for the past few days.

Whenever I open the game, the screen is very flickery (in terms of lightness/ darkness) before the jagex launcher finishes logging me in to the game, and afterwards the screen flickers with different colors and black textures.

I am using the jagex launcher to play rs3.
I am on a windows 11 laptop.
My processor is an 11th gen intel i5.
My gpu is an integrated intel iris xe gpu.
I have 12 GB of RAM.

I have already tried updating the graphics drivers. Upon updating them, when I rebooted the computer and ran the game, the first glitch still happened (flickery before logging in), but the second glitch did not.

However, upon re opening the game later today. both bugs happened again.

I'm not quite sure what else to try, besides possibly reinstalling the game?
I would appreciate any help and advice that you all could offer.

EDIT: reinstalled jagex launcher and game and the same bug persits

EDIT 2: I resized the window to not be fullscreen, then resized it back to fullscreen... and it worked?
Ill let others know if it comes back but this is a WEIRD way to fix a bug so. Shrugs

Hello,

Integrated GPUs can be a bit weird with certain full screen applications, especially when they are overheating. I would check to see if the temps on your CPU are okay; being a laptop, this might be the culprit as artifacts on your screen are a sign that the GPU (in this case eGPU) may be getting too hot.

It's definitely a bug. I have the same setup - iris Xe graphics. The login page flickering started with last week's update. I found the re-size trick. Played quite a few times over the last week. No further problems. This morning also no problem. Now.... I assume there was an update of sorts today around lunchtime.... flickering still there, the game is unplayable, colours washed out, everything jerky and out of sync. No clue how to fix this.

If I understand your post correctly, this was the same issue I have had recently.

It's not a Jagex Launcher problem, but rather an issue with the RuneScape client.

There are two ways to fix this, if you are having the same problem as me.

1- Once the logging in has finished (screen is flickering and multi-coloured pixels continues), click the minimise button for the window. You may have to do this repeatedly by minimising, and bringing back up. This does work for me.

2- You can also switch to Compatibility Mode from Auto (Normal Mode). You can access this from the login screen (you have to be quick) via the Options button in the lower left hand of the login screen. There, you can change modes.
