I recently bought a new GPU for my PC, only to find that I can't play for 10 minutes most of the time without crashing now, making a lot of activities just impossible. As you should, first thing I did was go through all steps of the support article for client crashes, none of the steps helped. I then created a ticket which was immediately closed saying that RuneScape doesn't work with a lot of AMD video cards (mine is an RX 6650 XT) and there is no information if or when a fix will be available, or even if it is a problem with RuneScape or with AMD.

Naturally, I am very disappointed at this (I even checked system requirements before buying the card, which did not mention this very important note), and there should be more players out there with these issues as AMD GPUs is not really a niche thing.

So I'm creating this thread to take help from the community on workarounds, if anyone can provide suggestions I would be very grateful.

It's a bug and AMD is aware of it.
To resolve this, simply return your driver to version 22.5.1

How do I know this? I'm using this version to play Runescape, I had the same problem as you unfortunately

You can search for ''AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition 22.5.1 Release Notes'' and download it from the official AMD website.

In the driver release notes from amd, in the ''know issues'' section we have this:

Application crash may be intermittently observed while playing RuneScape™ on some AMD Graphics Products, such as the Radeon™ RX 5700 XT.

I believe that in the next driver update, they will fix the error

It's AMD's fault, unfortunately their drivers always presented different problems :/

Use Linux. That's not exactly ironic either; whatever combined mess AMD and Jagex are responsible for for over a year now doesn't happen on Linux with AMD GPUs and relatively up-to-date Mesa and kernel. I've played for hours straight with a 6600 XT about a month or two ago on Fedora.

AMD can be just straight-up incompetent (it can't be rocket-science to either compat-profile RS3 just by itself or find the exact change causing the problem on your own in-house developed drivers and even cross-compare to Mesa), but Jagex could have resolved this by now if they would do their own client-side rendering changes. Strange how Minecraft and other OpenGL stuff works fine on current drivers on Windows.

Of course the second they closed a support ticket about this, I would have refunded Premier real quick. Jagex listens to refund requests, and if enough AMD users running into this would do that, this likely would have been fixed already.

This issue for Runescape is in another version, right? Like the next one or something

I hope AMD fixes it soon, its in the known issues for 3 months now,

personally been having crashes with every driver after 22.5.1.
Thats over a year of updates without a result.

Its a good thing AMD is finnally aware,

Hope its get fixed soon, so I can update my drivers.
