For the people with AMD gfx card,

and having random client closes/crashes there is good news.
0xc0000005 is what windows(10and11) log showed happend after crash.

Been using the 23.2.1 driver for over two hours and sofar 0 client crashes.
Time to do some bossing and see if the driver keeps driving lol : )

I really hope this version is 'stable', because the last stable version was 22.5.1 for me,
and windows 11 keeps installing without asking a newer version and then the game would crash again and again.

So I ddu'd everytime after windows did that and install 22.5.1 then game was fine.

Greetings,
Lemon

Hi there, little update:

Four days later, still using 22.5.1 from AMD website (windows says driver 30.0.15021.11005, 28-4-2022 ) and still 0 crashes.

The c0000005 error is still here after 9+ months with the following driver version from AMD support website:
22.6.1
22.7.1
22.8.1
22.9.1
22.10.1
22.11.1
23.2.1
driver v 31.0.12027.7000 , 20-10-2022 , automaticlly from windows update
pro driver version from AMD v 31.0.12044.3 (25-10-2022)

I tried al of those drivers in windows 10 and 11 and they have the same error c0000005, wich closes the client.
------------------------------------------------------------------
Using dual monitor setup 27inch 1440p and 2nd monitor is 24inch 1080p

My GPU when put on settings to forground 300FPS, in the Warforge it does arround 350-390 FPS, and the GPU fans will spin lol, with about 200watts power draw.

But normally when skilling I capp the frame rate to 35 fps background(inactive screen) and 40fps forground fps and the GPU power is arround 35 watts,

And for bossing I capp the FPS at 100 fps with arround 60-70watts.(except p7 zammy goes to 120watts)

All this FPS capping is for saving allot of electricity : )
------------------------------------------------------------------
As the prices of GPUs are dropping and we have Intel joining the GPU market I've still not decided what my next GPU will be.

Nvidia cards,
problebly best but I dont need RT cores, and thats whats making these cards expensive

AMD cards,
well my previous card was a amd HD6950 and had 0 crashes in its lifespan(over 5 years) wich
made me buy a AMD VEGA56 8GB vRAM with 3.584 compute units.
Can run Runescape easily if you dont update drivers after 22.5.1, but windows keeps installing different driver without asking.

Intel cards,
reasonly priced and as far as the reviews I've seen only downside is power draw when idle, is high about 40watts for just showing the desktop in windows.

greetings Lemon.

Hey there,

I've been using 23.2.1 and have fewer crashes than what I was having with the previous version. I opened a ticket regarding the issues and indeed this is a known issue being investigated, and support recommended 22.5.1.

It is possible to suppress Windows Update from installing drivers:

Method 1: Disable using Control Panel

1) Search and open Control Panel in Windows search box
2) Navigate to System and Security > System
3) Click on System info under Related settings, then click Advanced system settings in the left panel.
4) Under Device installation settings box, select No (your device might not work as expected) option, then click on Save Changes
5) Restart you PC for changes to apply effect

Method 2: Disable under Group Policy
Follow this method if you are using Windows 10 Pro or above versions as Group Policy is not available in Windows 10 Home

1) Press Windows key + R key to open Run command box
2) Type gpedit.msc in the box and click on OK
3) Expand folders from left column: Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows Update
4) On the right side, find Do not include drivers with Windows Updates
5) Double click on it and select Enabled, and click on Apply and then OK

Yeah I have the option 1 disabled, ( advanced system properties, Hardware tab, settings for device installation, No is selected. )

And also in services I turned of windows update(and put it on manual startup) so Im surprized it keeps updating drivers.

I upgraded my win10 home, to windows 11. I dont have a pro key, so I cant use GPEDIT.

Today I've tested compatability mode in Runescape with 23.2.1 and before I could enter my password, the client closed.

from windows 11 logs with driver 23.2.1 (windows device manager says 31.0.14001.45012)

Naam van toepassing met fout: rs2client.exe, versie: 927.3.0.0, tijdstempel: 0x63e158cb
Naam van module met fout: rs2client.exe, versie: 927.3.0.0, tijdstempel: 0x63e158cb
Uitzonderingscode: 0xc0000005
Foutmarge: 0x00000000006044a6
Id van proces met fout: 0x0x2C0C

Yesterday I was playing runescape, and for the first time windows just updated the AMD driver from 22.5.1 to 31.0.12027.7000 and crashed the clients..

I cant believe Windows become so bad, it updates a driver while its being used. :(

greetings,

Lemon

Also tried a clean install of windows 11, but I couldnt get past the put in a microsoft account, because I dont have a MS account, in previous windows installs I just pulled out the networking but that is not working anymore.

Deng it, so much time wasted trying to get the runescape client working with up to date drivers.

so now I can go safe mode, pull network cable, DDU drivers, install 22.5.1 .

And then i can play RS

I would occasionally, but rarely crash the client and with no warning messages except what was in the Windows log. Last night I updated to 23.2.2 and today I've crashed at least a half a dozen times. The oldest driver I see on the AMD site is 22.5.2, when everybody is saying try 22.5.1

Same here. I'm just going to stick with that one for a while... maybe indefinitely until I start having other issues because of it.
