I access Runescape with an old engineering laptop that includes a Quadro K1100M. The lag has been unbelievable, particularly in busy areas and on busy worlds. A lodestone teleport, for example, takes a couple minutes before I land and can move. When I click somewhere, I have to wait a minute or two to see where I end up before clicking again.

To improve performance, I set the graphics to minimum, then further reduced it manually. It became barely playable, albeit jerky, once I reduced the foreground FPS to 10 and the background FPS to 5, with all textures, shadows, etc eliminated. Yes, I checked with nVidia to make sure that I have the most recent drivers for the GPU, and I do.

It still wasn't pleasant, so as a last gasp, I disabled my GPU entirely, and logged in without a GPU. My CPU does include an emulated GPU, Intel 4600 HD graphics, though it is much slower than the K1100M per benchmark tests. Lo and behold, performance was much, much better without the GPU, at least 100 times as fast.

My conclusion at this point is that Runescape is not compatible with nVidia Quadro GPU's.

It's not necessarily that it isn't compatible, it's the fact that the Quadro lineup is not meant for gaming, shader rendering, etc. at all. It is purely meant for computational power and AI applications, it's akin to picking the wrong tool for the job, which is why you saw a bump when switching to your eGPU.

Thanks for the reply. Even disabling all the shading, anti-aliasing, textures, etc. on the quadro had little impact. A single screen took over a minute to render, with no motion. FWIW, I use the Quadro on other games, and I have never had an issue, so my suspicion remains that there is something in the Runescape code that specifically creates issues with the Quadro.

I created the thread, not so much for answers, but just so that if someone else tries to play Runescape using a Quadro, and finds it unplayable, they can search the forum and learn that the Quadro will not work with Runescape.
