At the account settings page, i am offered to upgrade to the new jagex launcher.
However, it notes that Linux is not officially supported.

-When will Linux be supported on the new jagex launcher/account?
-Where can i find more info on how to upgrade now, even when it is not officially supported?
^_^

By Jagex natively, prob wont be. The community has a good support network for it, and have gotten everything working and running smoothly for a number of months now.

You can use this page:

Has some links for community help from people who have put together to get it working. I know someone who uses linux and there doesn't seem to be too much problems when the emulators are running.

I would hold off on upgrading to a Jagex account until you can get the launcher working on the computer. Once it works, and you can sign in with your current account and have the game load...then upgrade to the new account.
Can I turn in a paper without citing all sources?

Personally i use 'Other distributions installation method' from the rs wiki.
That method includes fetching the .deb from the old nxt launcher.
Not seen the new jagex launcher support (yet?)
Guess i will be patient, and see how the future open source support for RuneScape will present itself...

Here's my notes on running Jagex Launcher on Linux, with native Linux executables for OSRS (official Java and RuneLite) and RS3 NXT: https://wiki.realmofespionage.xyz/games:wine:jagex_launcher

I dislike Lutris and launchers, and Proton is overkill. Afaik my notes are the cleanest, most straightforward solution for Jagex Launcher on Linux.

If you want a Native Linux client we need to band together Non Windows/Mac users make up roughly 14% of the market for PCs Mac only represents 17% and Windows dominated at around 69% (in 2022 according to: ) with 1.38% of total users gaming on Linux, Mac has 2.48% total of users gaming; yet Mac has it's own client and Linux doesn't. If security is really a concern then they'd create an official Linux version of the Jagex Launcher so there's no chance malicious code will come from it's install and so that it isn't vulnerable to Windows Viruses. I'm running my own forum under "Future Game Updates" trying to appeal it.
