Jagex Launcher error?

I tried running the game on my new laptop.
Immediately after choosing the location for the installation files the launcher crashed with the following message:

ERROR
The launcher has experienced an error and needs to close
Process returned unknown error code

It would appear Jagex and Windows 11 don't play well together yet.
Workaround was to run launcher in compatibility mode.
